The Darwinists at the U.S. Park Service claim that animals must learn to fend for themselves if they are to survive and thrive. When you feed animals, the bureaucrats coldly explain, they become dependents and no longer function as nature intends. They lose their capacity to make their own way. They fill up on foods that are harmful to their digestive systems. There is a dulling of the instincts that help wildlife avoid danger — they lose the fear of humans and cars, leading many of them to be killed while expecting to find food on the roadside. Some signs are downright mean in admonishing: “A fed animal is a dead animal."

I guess my question is this: “If we were to implement very serious reforms to numerous entitlement programs, would a large chunk of the impacted population be incapable of taking care of itself?”

Come on. I don’t really feel like finding the keys to my truck so I can drive ‘er on through. Because yeah, a bear in Yosemite is like a kid on 52nd and Powelton. Just…man, shut up. Look at yourself. Are you really some savage and victorious animal, or are you some soft, privileged white kid with a yen for survival television shows? Our society resembles Yosemite like the carcass of slain elk resembles PB&J on white bread.
